ご挨拶

Though I’ve spent the past six years in Japan, I’m Singaporean-born and mostly raised; I spent a hefty chunk of my childhood in the United States before moving back to my home country, where I spent most of my life.

After graduating from Yale-NUS College in Singapore, where I worked in the Writers’ Centre, I spent two years in content marketing before coming to Japan on the JET Programme. Thanks to the Nichinan City Board of Education, I was given the opportunity to teach English in Miyazaki Prefecture’s public school system for several years.

I then continued my career in marketing and communications for the restaurant industry in Tokyo, before becoming a corporate learning and development professional for the Japan office of a major Singaporean company.

It’s because of all these experiences that I’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages, from elementary school students all the way to to adult learners. I’ve trained junior high school students to compete at regional-level English speech contests, edited academic dissertations of all kinds, and helped adult professionals become fully qualified bilingual customer service representatives.

Regardless of your personal strengths, weaknesses or learning styles, my time as a professional educator has taught me that fun is the best teacher. And that’s my goal here at Thesaurus House: not just enriching your vocabulary or perfecting your pronunciation or coaching you to pass the EIKEN, but also helping uncover — or rekindle — your love for learning a language. Let’s talk.
